Diamond Rangers Participate at Green Country ShowcaseOn January 14 about 70 baseball players from around the area attended the Green Country Baseball Association showcase. Participants included upper classmen from Oktaha, Checotah, Vian, Ft Gibson, Stilwell, Hilldale, Haskell, Tahlequah, Sallisaw, Gore, Sallisaw Central, and Muskogee. The athletes worked out in front of scouts from colleges throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas. Seniors Blake Terrill, Scotty Jeremiah, Zack Plaster, Mike Chandler, and Dalton Gilbert along with Juniors Evan Fincher and Dakota Dean represented the Diamond Rangers. Terrill, Jeremiah, Plaster, and Dean all pitched a bullpen and did a very good job. Fincher, Chandler, and other Rangers were then rated on their bat speed, arm strength, as well as their catching and hitting skills. Even though they were all a bit nervous performing in front of the scouts and their peers, I was extremely proud of each and every one of them. They were given a chance to measure their progress as baseball players with fellow competitors from around northeast Oklahoma and definitely rose to the occasion. |
