REPORT OF SPECIAL PROGRAMS
2003-2004

Each year Roland Public School makes application for specific federal and state grants. If funded, these monies supplement the educational services provided for our students. In addition, our school provides special education, gifted and homebound instruction funded through the regular state formula.

The following is a list of currently funded programs being provided by Roland Public Schools.

Open meetings are held in October, May and other times throughout the year to receive input and guidance as well as review of the programs for interested parents and community members. Advisory committees are selected to assist in planning and evaluating the educational programs. Parents and students are included on these committees. Your willingness to serve on these committees help provide the needed services for our students. We thank you for sharing your time and input on these committees. Meeting dates are published in the local newspaper.

DISCRIMINATION POLICY NOTIFICATION

It is the policy of Roland Public Schools to provide equal opportunities without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, qualified handicap or veteran status in its educational programs and activities. This includes, but is not limited to admissions, educational services, financial aid and employment. Inquiries concerning applications of this policy may be referred to Bryce Dalke, Assistant Superintendent. He has the Title IX and Section 504 responsibilities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 strengthens and adds to the Title IX and Section 504 Rehabilitation Acts that have been in force for some time.

The general rule of ADA is that no qualified individual with a disability shall be discriminated against or excluded from participation in or the benefits of the services, programs or activities of a public entity because of such a disability. Bryce Dalke is the coordinator.

  1. The right to inspect and review the student's educational record.
  2. The right to exercise a limited control over other peoples' access to the student's educational records.
  3. The right to seek to correct the student's educational records, in a hearing if necessary.
  4. The right to report violations of FERPA to the Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
  5. The right to be informed about FERPA rights.

Above is a short version of FERPA rights. The complete FERPA policy is on file in the Superintendent's office.
