Students working on their Christmas STEM projects

Mrs. Sutterfield's 7th and 8th grade science classes worked on a Christmas STEM project this week in order to combine science and engineering education with the Christmas spirit. The students learned about resources such as renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. Students had to first design their house on paper, get it teacher approved, and then began to build their houses. The gingerbread houses built by each student needed to be designed and built to withstand a hail storm (6 marbles dropped at 15 cm) and a wind storm (blow dryer on cool). Tragically, some houses didn't survive but all of the students had a great time having fun while learning! Pictured are: Daviune Minor, Hailee Hamilton, Kayeleigh Wynn and Nathan Williams.
